In a brief statement shared on social media, Dr. Jara confirmed her candidacy and outlined her next steps in the nomination process.
“I have collected the nomination form to contest from Dhaka-9. I have been instructed by the party to submit my completed nomination form by the 13th. I’ve now officially joined that process. If I get the opportunity, I believe we can bring meaningful change through the NCP,” she said.

About Dhaka-9 Constituency
The Dhaka-9 constituency includes wards 1–7 and 71–75 under the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), covering the Sabujbagh, Khilgaon, Mugda, and Manda areas.
Political analysts describe the seat as highly competitive, with significant urban middle-class and working-class voter bases.
As of now, BNP has not yet announced a candidate for this constituency, while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has nominated Kabir Ahmed as its contender.
Significance of Her Candidacy
Dr. Jara’s nomination marks a growing trend of professional and youth leadership within the NCP, a party that has recently positioned itself as a reform-oriented alternative in Bangladesh’s political landscape.
Party insiders say her involvement will likely boost NCP’s appeal among younger and progressive voters, particularly in Dhaka’s urban constituencies where reformist politics is gaining momentum.

With Dr. Tasnim Jara stepping into electoral politics, the Dhaka-9 constituency is expected to witness a dynamic contest in the upcoming polls.
Her nomination reflects the NCP’s continued efforts to bring fresh, credible faces into national politics, representing a shift toward inclusivity, transparency, and change-driven governance.
