Empowering Bangladesh's Youth: NCP's Post-Election Agenda
The 2026 elections have ushered in a new era for Bangladesh, with the National Citizen Party (NCP) emerging as a beacon for youth empowerment. Securing six seats, including that of our convener Nahid Islam, one of the youngest parliamentarians NCP is uniquely positioned to advocate for the generation that sparked the 2024 revolution.
Youth comprise over 60% of Bangladesh's population, yet they've been sidelined by outdated policies. NCP's agenda addresses this head-on. In education, we propose reforms inspired by the July Charter: increased funding for STEM programs, scholarships for underprivileged students, and curriculum updates to foster critical thinking. Our MPs will push for anti-discrimination laws in universities, ensuring safe spaces free from political violence.
On employment, NCP recognizes the economic fallout from past mismanagement. We advocate for youth-led startups through tax incentives and skill-training hubs in every district. Drawing from our student roots, we'll introduce bills for minimum wage hikes in the garment sectors and green jobs in renewable energy, aligning with global sustainability goals.
Politically, NCP aims to lower the voting age and reserve seats for young candidates. Our alliance in opposition allows us to scrutinize the BNP government's promises, demanding transparency in job quotas and anti-corruption drives. We reject dynastic politics, promoting merit-based leadership as seen in our own structure.
The 2024 uprising taught us that change comes from the streets to the seats. NCP invites young Bangladeshis to join our forums and campaigns. Together, we'll build a Second Republic where youth aren't just voters but architects of progress. This is our commitment: empowering the next generation for an equitable future.
